Why We Created Flashback Memories

We realised something simple:
Capturing memories has never been easier, but bringing them together has never been harder. That's why we created Flashback Memories.

A QR-powered platform designed to make collecting and sharing memories effortless. With a simple scan, guests can upload photos, videos, and messages directly to a shared memory space, creating a complete collection of moments from everyone who was there.

Then in 2023, our family experienced another heartbreaking loss when my father passed away unexpectedly. In the months that followed, I found myself searching endlessly through old phones, messages, social media accounts and forgotten folders, desperately trying to find videos where I could hear his voice again.

Anyone who has lost someone close understands this feeling.

Sometimes it is not the photograph itself that matters most — it is the laugh in the background, the voice in a short video clip, the candid moment nobody realised would become priceless one day.

That experience reinforced why Flashback Memories needed to exist.

Almost 3 years on we took our idea to a developer and Flashback Memories was born.

Today Flashback Memories powers many events — weddings, memorials, school plays, conferences, birthday parties — anywhere a group of people gathers and moments happen that deserve to be kept.

More Than a Business. A Personal Mission

With over 25 years of experience in IT engineering, infrastructure and cloud technologies, I have spent my career helping organisations protect critical data, build resilient systems and prevent information loss. Outside of work, I'm a proud dad and family man who loves capturing life's special moments. Whether it's family days out, holidays, celebrations or simply everyday moments together, I believe photographs help preserve memories that become more valuable with time. Yet despite a lifetime working with technology, my own family experienced the heartbreak of losing irreplaceable photos and videos of our son's early years when an external hard drive failed. Then, after unexpectedly losing my dad in 2023, I found myself searching endlessly for photographs, videos and recordings that would allow me to hear his voice and relive precious memories.

Those experiences became the inspiration behind Flashback Memories. By combining professional-grade cloud security with a deeply personal understanding of how valuable memories become over time, our mission is simple: to give families a safe, secure place to preserve, share and protect the moments that matter most.

I've always been the person taking photos.

For years, I was the person behind the camera at birthdays, weddings, family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations. I loved capturing the moments that brought people together, but after every event I noticed the same problem: everyone's photos ended up scattered across phones, chats, social media, and cloud drives, with many memories never shared or eventually forgotten.

Flashback Memories was born from that frustration — and the belief that collecting memories should be as easy as creating them. Together, we built a platform that brings photos, videos, and messages into one place, helping families, friends, and communities preserve the moments that matter most.

My vision is simple: make sharing effortless, keep memories connected, and create a lasting home for the stories that shape our lives.
